a+f to build another eight solar parks in Italy worth €43.2 million

Following on from its last major order for ‘SunCarrier’ solar tracking systems in September 2009, when a+f announced an eight solar park deal worth €36 million for the Foggia and Apulia regions of Italy, the company has signed a new deal worth over €43 million for a further eight parks.

The new plants will be constructed by a+f over an area of 40 hectares in the Apulia region of Italy and will be capable of supplying 4100 four-person households with electricity annually. Apulia is fast becoming a popular destination for the small-scale (1MW) capacity solar farms in Italy.

“This further major order consolidates the strong position of a+f in the Italian solar market”, says Thomas Petsch, managing director of a+f GmbH.

The company has also established a U.S. operation in Denver, Colorado, to expand its international business. a+f said that it has reference units installed in both California and Nebraska and expects its first contracts to be signed soon.
