A 16-year veteran of the renewable energy industry, Jean M. Wilson has joined the SunPower team as Vice President and General Manager of the company’s utilities and power plants. This new role will include running SunPower's North American utility and power plant division, supervision of all project development and overseeing utility and Independent Power Producer partnerships, as well as marketing, EPC and component sales.
Howard Wenger (pictured), SunPower's President of global business units, said, "Jean will drive our growth plans across the utility and power plant business in North America as we capitalize on the opportunities established by state renewable portfolio standards and federal support for solar power."
Joining the company from her former role as Senior Vice President of renewable energy at PPM Energy (now Iberdrola Renewables), where she spearheaded the acquisition and development of over 2,400MW of wind power projects, and in the development of a wind and solar power project pipeline in excess of 18,000MW. Prior to her time with PPM, Ms. Wilson was director of business development and green power for PacifiCorp; director of marketing for Northwest Power Enterprises, Inc.; and director of business development for Kenetech Windpower.
An M.B.A. graduate from Stanford University, Ms. Wilson also has a B.Sc. in finance from the University of Southern California. She has a seat on the Board of the Oregon Build Environment and Sustainable Technologies Center, and is a former member of the Renewable Energy Policy Project Board.
