PG&E taps Cupertino Electric to design and build 20MW Huron, California solar project

Cupertino Electric has been chosen by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to design and build the 20MW Huron, California PV project. Engineering for the utility’s solar PV project has begun and construction is dually underway with the project expected to be completed and inter-connected by mid-2012.

“Having just completed two successful utility-scale solar projects for PG&E, we are extremely excited to again partner with PG&E on this new 20MW project,” said Paul Aggarwal, vice president of operations for Cupertino Electric’s energy alternatives division. “Not only do we get to work with some of the best people in the industry, but we also get the opportunity to explore new and innovative ways to deliver utility-scale projects faster and more efficiently on each subsequent project we construct.”

Cupertino Electric is designing and constructing the Huron PV project under a five-year PG&E clean energy initiative, which includes up to 250MW of utility-owned solar generation. The 20MW project is the second 50MW of the utility’s generation plan.
