The subsidiary of SunEdison, Inversiones y Servicios SunEdison Chile, submitted an environment impact assessment of the project to SEA in July.

According to the impact assessment, construction of the project is due to start this month. The plant will eventually use around 300,000 MEMC 330W solar modules and be connected to the Northern Interconnected system (SING).

Numerous other solar projects have also received SEA approval in Chile, with SunEdison leading the solar project construction trail in the Latin American country, with two other projects also approved and financed.
