Several US headquartered PV manufacturers such as SunPower, Suniva, Mission Solar, TetraSun (owned by First Solar) and Silevo (owned by SolarCity) are all at various stages of building and ramping new solar cell capacity using N-type monocrystalline wafers.
Recently, Panasonic (Japan), Korea-based LG and SolarWorld USA also announced incremental N-type mono solar cell capacity expansions.
Producers such as Canadian Solar have also announced monocrystalline solar cell capacity expansions in the last year.
According to PV Tech’s quarterly report on global PV capacity expansion announcements, over 1.5GW of mono-based cell and module assembly plans have been announced since the beginning of 2014 with the majority announced in the last nine months.
