The Columbus Ohio store is currently under construction and expected to complete next summer.

The system, to be designed, developed and installed by US PV installer REC Solar, will comprise more than 3,500 panels and generate circa 1.4MWh of electricity for the store each year.

REC Solar will work alongside Pepper Construction, which is developing the store, ahead of its opening in next summer.

Panel installation is to start early next year and is expected to complete in early spring.

The install will become IKEA’s second in the state and its 46th in the US overall. IKEA’s operational solar portfolio in the country now exceeds 40MW in capacity.
