Adding to its range of central inverters, Power-One introduces the Aurora Ultra-1400 with an output power of up to 1.4MW. This liquid-cooled inverter, which displays power conversion efficiencies of up to 98.7%, is the largest product in the Power-One range and has been designed for large commercial and utility-grade installations.

“Our modular central inverter designed for large commercial and utility applications increases uptime and energy harvesting through a reduction in downtime caused by the failure at the inverter level or the photovoltaic field as well as a significant reduction of the cost of BOS,” said Paolo Casini, vice president of product marketing at Power-One. “This eliminates plant shutdown, reduces repair time and consequently offers financial benefits in terms of production.”

The Aurora Ultra-1400 is equipped with an internal recombiner compartment with up to 24 individually fused inputs. It also displays an output voltage of 690Vac which allows a significant reduction of AC losses. The inverter’s main feature, according to the company, is the IP65 enclosure, which features passive liquid cooling and total segregation of internal compartments. These elements extend the inverter’s maintenance cycle and reduce the cost of repairs.

The new product is compliant to German Federal Association for Energy and Water (BDEW) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC 661) standards.

Power-One is exhibiting at Intersolar Europe, booths FG.100 and B4.280.
