Baofang Jin, chairman and CEO of JA Solar said: “India is emerging as one of the largest PV markets in the world, and JA Solar is well-positioned to continue to capture market share in the region. We remain focused on driving the R&D innovation that improves our products, which results in reliable modules and professional service to clients.”

The firm is continuing to expand manufacturing capacity in 2017 after guiding total shipments to be in the range of 6GW to 6.5GW, up from 5.2GW in 2016. By the end of 2017, JA Solar expects its production capacity to reach 3GW in silicon wafers, 7GW in cells, and at least 6GW in modules.

This year the firm will also be shifting more capacity to p-type mono PERC at its Malaysia facility.

Chinese modules continue to dominate the Indian solar market, with the price of Chinese module imports to India dropping 8% over the last quarter and 29% year-on-year, according to recent price indices calculated by consultancy firm Bridge to India. India's domestic manufacturers struggle to compete on price as things stand.
