Wisconsin public utility Alliant Energy has unveiled its “Powering What’s Next” plan, a long-term mission to accelerate the transition of renewable energy in The Badger State.
The plan will revolve around Alliant’s five primary areas of focus when it comes to helping customers reach a more sustainable future: clean energy; customer choice; smarter energy use; community involvement and conversions to cleaner fuels.
The first step in this mission will be the addition of 1GW of new PV capacity within the state by the end of 2023. That influx of new PV generation will be enough to power approximately 260,000 homes, with Alliant considering projects located throughout its Wisconsin service area.

Other features of the “Powering What’s Next” plan include the option for Alliant Energy customers to choose to have 100% of their energy supplied by renewable sources, as well as participate in a customer-hosted, utility-owned solar panel program through roof leasing designed for medium-sized projects of ~200kw.
