A video purporting to show a North Korean solar panel factory has been circulated by authorities in the country.

The state news agency, KCNA, appears to have filmed the video on 19 February at the Kim Il Sung university.

The video shows both mono- and poly-crystalline modules in production.

In April 2015, Reuters reported that solar was booming in the secretive state with locals using it in increasingly large numbers to combat electricity shortages. The story’s source claimed that domestically produced panels were driving down the cost and that 20W systems were being sold for US$44.

What equipment and tools do you recognise in the video? What is this facility producing and at what scale? Leave your observations in the comments section below.
