Power-One has begun shipping central inverters from its Chinese manufacturing and design facility in Shenzhen. By the end of 2011, the site will have an annual manufacturing capacity of 1GW.

The plant will not only allow Power-One to increase output of its recently-launched 250kW and 500kW utility-grade central inverters but also gain a stronger foothold in the ever-expanding Asian solar markets. Both inverters have received the China Quality Certificate (CQC), entitling Power-One to sell them throughout the country.

"Asia represents a significant wind and solar growth opportunity for Power-One and we are excited that our Shenzhen facility is now shipping inverters to meet the needs of our regional customers," said Alex Levran, president of renewable energy solutions at Power-One. "The Shenzhen factory will allow us to strengthen our presence and expand our products designed for the large and growing Chinese and Indian markets."
