Standard Solar has entered into the Vermont solar market with the purchase of a 3.2MW solar project in Wallingford.
The installation, developed by Wallingford Solar LLC, is spread over 6.8 hectares of a 20.7-hectare parcel that was once a gravel pit and hot-mix asphalt plant. Positive Energy NY LLC, a renewable energy company, will construct the site.
Scott Wiater, president and CEO, Standard Solar, said: “Vermont is rapidly working its way toward the Solar Century and its goal of obtaining 90% of total energy supply from renewable sources by 2050. Standard Solar is excited to invest our in-house capital in this project and play a part in helping the state reach its renewable energy goals.”
The installation is being supported by a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Vermont Renewable Energy Program (VEPP), a non-profit entity that operates two of Vermont’s Renewable Energy Programs under contract with the Vermont Public Utility Commission.
The site, set to be completed by December, will be comprised of 9,018 PV panels and is projected to produce 3,291,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in its first year.
Following the successful launch of Energy Storage Summit USA, we are pleased to announce its return for a 2nd year. Renowned for its quality, breadth and expertise, this event features an all-encompassing range of strategic and technical sessions on the adoption and deployment of storage. Key market drivers such as the falling price of lithium-ion batteries, investment in electric vehicle infrastructure, FERC Order 841, government incentives, grid modernization, transition from dependency on the networks to a desire for autonomy and intermittent renewable sources, all add to an exciting time for the Energy Storage value chain.
