Sunny Day Energy and Silfab Ontario have entered into an agreement to supply approximately 5MWp of high efficiency domestic content modules. A number of rooftop projects in the Greater Toronto area will benefit from the modules which range in size between 200 and 500KWp each.

The high efficiency Silfab modules, having been manufactured in the company’s plant in Mississauga, opened this year, complies with domestic content requirement and therefore satisfies the local FiT. This fully automated plant has an annual production capacity of 90MWp and represents one of the biggest solar manufacturing plants in Canada. Continuous quality checks both in-line and off-line, have been set up in order to ensure high efficiency and long lasting modules.

Silfab Ontario will deliver SLA 60 cells single-crystalline modules, with a power pick of 255 and 260Wp. These power classes are the perfect solutions in order to optimize energy production and rooftop available surface.

Franco Traverso, president of Silfab Ontario said, “A project like this keeps production lines running and people employed and gives us strong visibility in the upcoming years. Ontario is still a photovoltaic market with a huge potential, despite the current discussions about the decrease of FITs and the resulting temporary cooling of the demand”.
