SolarWorld Americas has begun work on solar carports at four public parks in Thousand Oaks, California.
The installations will have a total capacity of 537kW saving Conejo Recreation and Parks District (CRPD) US$3.4 million over the project’s 25-year life span, according to SolarWorld.

SolarWorld will handle all engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) duties, with financing provided by Solarworld and Sustainable Power Group (sPower).
CRPD has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with SolarWorld and sPower.
“With this project, SolarWorld brings together its high-quality solar technology and top-flight engineering and construction talent with sPower’s financing capacity to help CRPD meets its fiscal and sustainability goals,” said Kevin Kilkelly, president of SolarWorld Americas.
“The project also highlights a growing trend among US park districts. Long-time stewards of the environment, these organisations understand that solar power can also play a role in financial stewardship,” added Kilkelly.
The installations will feature 270 Watt modules from SolarWorld’s factory in Hillsboro, Oregon.
