India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has published its latest figures for clean power capacity additions in the country, which show that the country added 15GW of new solar capacity in the 12 months to the end of March 2024.
Spain has installed 5.6GW of ground-mounted capacity in 2023, up 28% from 2022, according to the country’s transmission system operator, Red Eléctrica.
Between 2024 and 2028 the US community solar market is expected to add 7.6GW of new capacity in existing state markets, according to a report from Wood Mackenzie and the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA).
Solar PV accounted for 55.8% of the total power generation capacity added to the Indian grid in 2023, including fossil fuel additions which rose considerably over the year in response to growing electricity demand.
India installed 12.9GW of renewable energy capacity in 2023, over 10GW of which was solar PV capacity. This represents a 28% decline in PV additions and an 18% drop in overall renewables capacity additions year-on-year.
