Renewable energy developer MPC Energy Solutions has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a subsidiary of Guatemalan sugar cane processor and exporter Ingenio Magdalena S.A (IMSA) for power produced at a 65MW solar PV plant in the country.

Engie is investing in Kingo Energy and Mera Gao Power aiming to bring renewable energy to over 2 million people in Central America and India by 2020.

The Latin America region saw 181MW of utility-scale solar PV come online in Q3 2015, down 50% from the historic 363MW of installations in Q2, but still helping the market's ability to strengthen growth and move towards maturity in 2016, according to GTM Research’s ‘Latin America Q3 Playbook’.
