Spain has started the process to celebrate a fourth round of renewables auction in November with 1.8GW of solar capacity to accelerate its electrification.
Poland has allocated approximately 870MW of solar PV capacity in its latest round of renewables auctions that took place earlier this month, according to the country’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE).
Solar PV bidders secured two-thirds of allocated capacity in the first of Spain’s new renewable energy auctions, which was held yesterday (26 January) and was more than three times oversubscribed.
This year is set to be a record-breaker for renewables auctions in Europe, as countries across the continent look to increase clean energy deployment to reach 2030 emissions reductions targets.
A subsidiary of Adani Green Energy has received a contract to build a 600MW solar-wind hybrid project in India after posting a winning bid in an auction carried out last month by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Chilean authorities have announced plans to carry out an auction next year, looking to procure 2,310GWh of renewable power from generation and storage.
The UK government has confirmed solar’s ability to participate in the country’s next renewables auction, which is expected to contract for up to 12GW of new capacity.
