Vivint Solar enters Virginia in favourable policy climate

US residential rooftop solar provider Vivint Solar has expanded into Virginia, taking advantage of a newly favourable policy climate for renewables.

With Vivint, Virginia households will be able to benefit from traditional net metering, different financing options, as well as applying for utility-sponsored rebates and federal tax credits.

Virginia takes just 0.09% of its energy from solar, according to the US Energy Information Administration, but in May governor McAuliffe signed 11 bills that promoted PV – particularly community solar – and other renewable energy resources such as pumped hydro.

Vivint Solar now operates in 20 US states.
