Flexible silicon thin-film firm Xunlight has received IEC 61646 and 61730 certification, conducted by TÜV InterCert Group. The certification enables the U.S.-based manufacturer to market its products in Europe, competing against the likes of Uni-Solar products.

“This is a major milestone in Xunlight's efforts to become a world-leading producer of low-cost, high-powered flexible and lightweight solar modules,” said Xunming Deng, Xunlight's President and CEO. “I am also happy to announce that we have made our first shipment today of IEC certified product to a European customer.”

Xunlight also noted that it has a European sales backlog of close to US$60 million for installation on commercial rooftops and other applications. According to Xunlight, five of its products with wattages up to 307W per module and for use in systems up to 1000V DC have been approved.  The certified modules include those with widths of both 91 cm and 48 cm wide, and a total length up to 5.5 meters long.

The products are all produced on Xunlight’s 25MW roll-to-roll tandem-junction amorphous-silicon production line in Toledo, Ohio.
