Spanish firm Mondragon Assembly is close to completing a 60MW module assembly production line in Egypt.

The tools are for Arab International Optronics, an offshoot of the country’s defence ministry, based in Cairo.

The line will be capable of making 60- and 72-cell, glass-glass bifacial modules.

Haythem Zhioua, sales director at Mondragon Assembly MENA confirmed that commissioning of the line, which is already on the premises, will be complete in February 2019 with manufacturing to kick off in March.

“This is not our first project in Egypt, we are shipping right now equipment with a capacity of 100MW to another customer in Egypt,” added Zhioua.
