Currently, the Vénissieux, France location that Bosch Solar Energy plans to set up as a PV module assembly plant is being used as diesel system location where common-rail injection pumps are manufactured. As the demand for such products has declined, Bosch began looking for a new use of the location and eventually, the company decided to bring their assembly plant to the locale.

An industrial concept will be presented no later than the end of the first quarter of 2011, with Bosch’s Solar Energy division taking responsibility for the future business plans of Vénissieux. Currently, Vénissieux is home to Bosch’s diesel systems and drive and control technology divisions and is looking to keep as many jobs as possibly open in the location.

“Worldwide, the market for resource-conserving photovoltaic products will continue to grow,” said Holger von Hebel, the president of Bosch Solar Energy. “In setting up a module business in Vénissieux, we want to further expand our capacity, not only for the local French market but also for other markets.”
