California’s 280MW Mojave CSP plant begins operation

The yield-co arm of Spanish renewables firm, Abengoa, has confirmed the 280 MW Mojave concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in California is now up and running.

Power from the plant will be sold under a 25-year power purchase agreement to the investor-owned California utility, Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E).

The Mojave project was commissioned 1 December, and generated 2,200 jobs during construction.

Abengoa Yield also owns Solana solar power plant which has six-hour thermal energy storage capacity and is located in Arizona. The plant began commercial operation last year.
