Canadian Solar Solutions, a subsidiary of solar power company Canadian Solar, has successfully sold two 10MW AC PV plants in Canada — DiscoveryLight and FotoLight — to equity investment company Renewable Energy Trust Ontario Holdings.

DiscoveryLight is located in Beaverton, Ontario, while FotoLight is in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Power produced by the two plants will be sold to Hydro One thanks to a 20-year Ontario Power Authority feed-in-tariff agreement.

Canadian Solar provided engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the two sites, and will now utilize operations and maintenance (O&M) services. Another 10 MW AC PV plant — known as CityLights — is scheduled to commence operations  in the first quarter of 2015.

Shawn Qu, chairman and chief executive officer of Canadian Solar, said: “We are pleased with the sale of these two plants to RET Capital, and we look forward to closing the third plant in early 2015. This transaction underscores the successful execution of our business plan in Ontario, as well as our proven track record as a leading project developer on a global scale.”
