PV Tech previously reported earlier this year that WEG had won an EPC contract to build two solar PV projects of 31.12MW capacity each, being developed by Nordic Power Partners (NPP) at Coremas, Paraiba, in northeast Brazil.

Shu Hua, President of GCL-SI said, “WEG is a widely-respected EPC company in Latin America with years of experience in electrical engineering. We are delighted to be able to work with WEG on their local clean energy projects and to assist in the building of a greener living environment for the local community.”

GCL-SI also noted that the Brazilian market may well be focused on the utility-scale business, due to previous government tenders but highlighted that the distributed generation (DG) market was emerging as an area for potential growth.
