German-based PV module manufacturer Heckert Solar GmbH said that it had been one of the pioneers using Fraunhofer ISE’s new software that helps reduce cell-to-module losses that have led to module performance gains.

German research institute Fraunhofer ISE has claimed a new record conversion efficiency for a 20mm x 20mm N-type multicrystalline cell using process match wafer and its TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) developed technology.

A commercial partner RD&E program going back to 2012, between Fraunhofer ISE and Bystronic glass is being touted as serious candidate to be the future of high-volume and lower cost PV module assembly that overcomes current dual-glass frameless product offerings.
