The first ‘smart neighbourhood’ in the US state of Georgia is being created by utility Georgia Power and homebuilder PulteGroup, with each home equipped with solar PV, battery energy storage and other smart, clean and distributed energy resources.
The future appears bright for Georgia Power, as the company announced Wednesday that it has added more than 2 million solar panels to the state’s energy landscape last year and will continue to build its portfolio in 2017.
A new 30MW solar PV facility at Fort Stewart was inaugurated by representatives from Georgia Power and US army officials last week. The project marks the fourth large-scale solar project that was produced in collaboration with the US military in Georgia.
