  • Veeco Instruments welcomes Johannes Segner as CTO; announces solar technical seminar at EU-PVSEC

    Not only has Veeco Instruments welcomed Dr. Johannes Segner as its new chief technology officer for their solar equipment segment, but the company also announced that at its solar technical seminar on September 6,  2010, at EU-PVSEC in Valencia, Spain, Segner will be presenting “Designing a Best-of-Breed CIGS Thermal Deposition Factory, Lessons Learned & Futures Considerations.” Veeco will be highlighting its solar manufacturing equipment at the September 6-9 tradeshow.

  • Frederic Klaske recruited as senior director for SRS Energy

    SRS Energy has added Frederic Klaske to its team as the senior director of sales and marketing. Klaske will be leading the promotion for SRS’s  Sole Power Tile. Klaske joins SRS from Fidelity Roof Company where he was solar systems division manager and is lauded for founding Sky Power Systems.

  • Odersun appoints new CFO, Peter van Bommel steps down

    CIS thin-film company Odersun has appointed Doede Vierstra as its chief financial officer and member of the board. Vierstra succeeds Peter van Bommel, who was responsible for the company’s finances since early 2009. Van Bommel steps down as part of his decision to return to his home country, The Netherlands, and has accepted another position in the meantime.

  • Adrian Cojocaru joins Oerlikon as CHRO - Andreas Dill appointed segment CEO at Advanced Technologies

    Oerlikon has further strengthened its management team with the appointment of Adrian Cojocaru as chief human resources officer (CHRO)  and Andreas Dill as segment CEO at Advanced Technologies. Cojocaru will take up his position on December 1, 2010, while Dill will begin with immediate effect.

  • Christopher Smith accepts position as new vice president for Intevac

    Intevac revealed that Christopher Smith will be taking over the executive vice president of emerging markets position to manage and develop the company’s capital equipment business. Luke Marusiak, who previously served in the position, will be revisiting his chief operating officer role, which sees him overlooking manufacturing, materials, customer service and corporate services.

  • Sharp Solar Energy Solutions Group welcomes new senior VP

    Sharp Solar Energy Solutions Group, a division of Sharp Electronics, has chosen Eric Hafter as the new senior VP to oversee U.S. sales and marketing. Hafter has been heavily involved with the solar industry and was recently the CSO of Solar Power. In an additional announcement, Sharp advised that VP Ron Kenedi has left the Solar Energy Solutions Group for the pursuit of other interests.

  • John Rego selected as CFO and treasurer for Petra Solar

Rego has over 25 years of executive experience in building technology companies and will be in charge of Petra’s accounting, finance, treasury, taxation, human resources, public relations and information technology.

    Dennis Flood, a 30-year NASA veteran who developed photovoltaic power systems for space and planetary missions, has been named CTO at Natcore Technology. The company said that he will help bring its portfolio of PV intellectual property through proof of concept and into commercialization.
