    GlobalWatt, Silver Eagle to integrate solar modules on military/homeland security transport systems

    GlobalWatt and Silver Eagle Manufacturing have formed a partnership that will see the two companies incorporating GlobalWatt’s mobile solar system onto Silver Eagle’s Defense and Homeland Security transport systems. GlobalWatt will offer installations of a solar sub-system, which will be amalgamated into Silver Eagle trailers that are built for the US National Guard and Department of Defense. Silver Eagle will private label the solar products, which include GlobalWatt’s Avanti 4kW solar system.

    Intertek-tested PV products earn J-PEC recognition and eligibility for Japanese government subsidies

    Under its new recognition by Japan’s Department of Energy and its Japanese Photovoltaic Expansion Center (J-PEC), Intertek’s CB reports on PV products distributed to the Japanese market will be eligible for consumer subsidies. The recognition allows for a more streamlined operation where a manufacturer that has their PV products tested and certified by Intertek will not need any supplementary certifications or approvals when entering the Japanese market.

    Bosch names Eric Daniels as new North America regional solar energy president

    Eric Daniels will be leading the Solar Energy North American division of Robert Bosch as the department’s first solar energy regional president. In his new role, Daniels will supervise the company’s solar business in North America while specifically focusing on business development opportunities. Daniels is a 14-year veteran of the solar industry who joins Bosch from BP Solar where he served as CTO for seven years.

    FRV starts building 30MW Webberville solar project

    Fotowatio Renewable Ventures has closed financing and started construction work on its 30MW Webberville project. Renewable Energy Systems Americas is building the system, that is being fitted with Trina Solar’s 270W crystalline modules and has a pencilled in completion date of the end of 2011.

  • Suntrix CPV module is awarded the first Golden Sun certification in China

    By passing all standards required by IEC62108 Suntrix has obtained the first Golden Sun certification for a CPV module in China. Issued by the China General Certification Center (CGC), the award is an accreditation system for PV products led by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of P. R. C. (CNCA) and supported by the National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC), the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility’s building certification system for Chinese solar PV products.

    Spire starts work on 2MW school solar project

    Spire Corporation has started building work on a 2MW system for a school in southwest Massachusetts. The system is situated on eight acres of land at the Berkshire School in the town of Sheffield and will generate 2,300 MWh of electricity every year.

    Order Focus: Solar Frontier signs 1.2MW solar development deal with Granite Construction

    Solar Frontier will be providing its thin-film CIS solar module technology for Granite Construction’s 1.2MW solar installation in Coalinga, California. The solar panels have already been delivered to the site with installation just around the corner. The two companies note that the 1.2MW solar installation will generate 50% of Granite Construction’s facility energy requirements.

    PVJapan 2011 postponed until December; recovery efforts, energy conservation cited as reasons

    PVJapan 2011 has been rescheduled from its original July dates to December 5-7. Event sponsors SEMI and the Japanese Photovoltaic Energy Association decided to postpone the show because of the ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami and at the request of Japanese government agencies to help conserve energy resources during the summer months.

    Silfab Ontario signs 9.3MW module supply deal with Agris for Ontario microFIT projects

    Agris Solar Co-Operative will be deploying 9.3MW of PV modules made in Silfab Ontario’s new production facility for 10KW and smaller micro feed-in tariff projects in the Canadian province.  The first tranche of monocrystalline-silicon panels will be delivered in April, with shipments continuing until April 2012.

    CVEC selects American Capital Energy for 18MW solar project on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard

    American Capital Energy (ACE) has won the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperatives (CVEC) bid to construct an 18.3MW solar project on Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod.  The solar project will be built across 10 proposed sites in seven of CVEC’s member towns on the Cape and Vineyard, with one of the projects having a proposed installation site at the capped Harwich landfill. The 18.3MW solar installation should produce 22,552,200kWh of energy per year, equivalent to 26% of the Cape and Vineyard’s municipal load and 1.1% of the total energy load for all customers on the islands.
