Solaicx taps Schwartz to lead product engineering efforts

Peter Schwartz has joined Solaicx as the vice president of product engineering for the solar silicon ingot and wafer manufacturer. He comes to Solaicx from Nanoconduction, where he served as VP of process and equipment. His more than a decade of production and engineering experience includes a stint as a director at Applied Materials, which he joined after the capital equipment giant purchased Torrex, where he led a manufacturing team.

"Peter's wealth of experience in leading high-throughput manufacturing makes him well-suited to align Solaicx's increasing product volume with the needs of our valued partners and customers," said Bob Ford, president/CEO of Solaicx. "Peter has a unique combination of deep technical experience and enthusiasm for efficiency that clearly demonstrates that he is the right person to oversee Solaicx's solar ingot production process."

A winner of the National Science Foundation's prestigious Research Initiation Award, Schwartz has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He holds a PhD in electrical engineering from Princeton University.
