Yingli inks multimegawatt solar module deals with two German PV integrators

Yingli Green Energy has signed separate solar module sales agreements with two leading German PV system integrators, City Solar and Wirsol. The City Solar deal calls for the supply of 20 MW of  modules in 2009, while the Wirsol contract commits the Chinese company to provide 15 MW of panels.

Yingli's agreement with City Solar also includes an option for the integrator to purchase an additional 30 MW of modules, and the Wirsol deal features an option to buy an additional 20 MW of units in the coming year.

"We are pleased to announce our sales contract with City Solar and Wirsol," stated Liansheng Miao, chairman/CEO of Yingli. "We have established a solid position as a reliable PV module supplier for large-scale PV power plants and other solar power solutions worldwide, thanks to our successful track record and long history in cooperating with utilities and PV system installers in Europe.

"We expect to continue to capture market share in a more competitive environment with our high-quality products, brand recognition, and competitive PV module pricing," he continued. "In addition, we believe the recent dramatic decrease in polysilicon prices and our excellent performance in maintaining low nonpolysilicon costs will further help us along the way toward achieving grid parity."

Yingli said in a recent business outlook update that it expects its total PV module shipments in 2009 will be in the 550- to 600-MW range. This estimate is subject to, among other factors, the successful installation and ramp-up of its planned 200-MW capacity expansion in 3Q 2009, according to the company.
