The largest electric power holding company in the US, Duke Energy has approved an 80MW solar power plant in North Carolina.
The utility has given interconnection approval to the developer Innovative Solar Systems to construct the 80MW solar plant, with energy from the project, once built, to be supplied to the Duke Energy grid.

The ground-mount plant is to span 500 acres with 30,000 panels installed and eight inverters.
Innovative Solar Systems CEO John Green said the plant would be the largest project to be built in state of North Carolina to date.
Innovative Solar Systems already has a 1GW pipeline for North Carolina for this and next year – ranging from 35MW to 80MW in size.
