New entrant to the PV project business, 3U Holding said it will build its first PV power plant in Adelebsen, Lower Saxony. Unlike typical projects, 3U Holding will use acquired derelict industrial area of approximately 26 hectares with buildings that will house rooftop arrays of mainly Canadian Solar modules as well as a ground-mounted array as a second phase development. The Rooftop part of the project is expected to be completed before the end of 2011. The total investment is expected to be in the range of €25 million.

French renewable energy company Fonroche is investing US$115 million in a new 44MW solar farm in Puerto Rico, according to business daily Les Echos.

(Update) The CEO of solarhybrid said it is enlisting the help of First Solar to help equip a 1.5GW project pipeline it is on the verge of buying from Solar Millennium. First Solar would not confirm the existence of the supposed deal, telling PV-Tech it had no comment at this time.

aleo solar has helped finance and equip a new 1MW PV system in Vittorio Veneto, Italy. The Germany-based module manufacturer joined forces with Ailita Engineering and Italian bank BIIS on the project, which was connected to the grid in May.

ForVEI investment company revealed that it had bought two solar PV facilities developed by the OPDE Group amounting to a total of 7.93MW. The €33 million (US$45 million) project was financed by Intesa Sanpaolo with the power plants located in the Italian Piedmont region. Both solar farms are fully operational with the 6.19MW Tortona project and the 1.74MW Predosa installation utilizing Trina Solar and Canadian Solar modules, SMA inverters and Mecasolar single-axis solar trackers.

Abengoa has begun ramping up its 280MW CSP Mojave Solar Project after the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) approved its power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).

Thin film PV company Nanosolar said it has supplied close to 6MW of its CIGS utility panels for two installations in France and Oregon, as part of its partnership with EDF Energies Nouvelles and its US subsidiary, enXco.

Astronergy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, has finished work on a 20MW PV system in Golmud, China. The installation, which is one of the largest in China, takes Astronergy’s portfolio in the country to 60MW.

Two years in the making, Arizona’s largest commercial-scale solar power project has been completed. Located in Pinal County, the 20MW project sits on 144 acres and began operation earlier this year. Iberdrola Renewables will own and operate the facility with Salt River Project (SRP) purchasing the entire output of the plant under a 25 year agreement.

Moser Baer Clean Energy Limited (MBCEL) has commissioned a 23.8MW solar power plant in Lauta, Germany, said to be the company’s largest to date. Funded with approximately €50 million long-term debt financing from DKB bank in Germany – the same financier for the company’s Thuringen and Meissens projects, the farm uses c-Si technology, SMA central inverters and was built with Conecon as the construction partner.
