NxGen Power has activated its 1.3MW PV system at the Neuse River Wastewater Treatment Plant in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Inverter manufacturer Power-One has installed 25MW of solar inverters on 50 hectares of land, located in Gujarat, India and covered by more than 100,000 polycrystalline solar panels. 73 units of Aurora PVI-330.0-TL indoor inverters have been fitted along with medium voltage switch gears and transformers.

Sunvalley Solar has scored another commercial solar installation; this time with XL Biofuels in Thermal, California. Late last year, Sunvalley was awarded a US$2 million contract for a project in Long Beach, California, which was followed by two more project contracts for Southern California sites.

EnterSolar advised that the installation of an 877kW rooftop PV system at Chelten House Products’ Bridgeport, New Jersey, facility had been completed. The system uses over 3,650 solar panels and is set to produce over 1,000,000kWh of electricity per year. Over the next 25-years the PV project is expected to generate 26 million kWh of electricity, which is said to be enough to power over 125 homes.

Israel’s Public Utility Authority has awarded licences to build two solar thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 180MW. The larger of the plants has a capacity of 120MW and is being installed by Israel’s largest construction firm, Shikun & Binui. The contract for the smaller, 60MW station was handed out to a subsidiary of US investment company Two Sigma.

Adani Group has commissioned a new large-scale PV project in the Kutch district of Gujarat. With a capacity of 40MW, it is India’s largest solar installation to date and Adani is planning to ramp it up to 100MW in the future.

SAG Solarstrom has sold its 48MW Serenissima PV plant in Northern Italy to an unnamed institutional investor. The purchase contract, valued “in line with the market rate in the triple-digit million-euro range”, was signed on December 31, 2011 and is subject to the usual conditions precedent. Payment will be made to SAG Solarstrom sometime in Q1.

Activ Solar has finished the fifth and final construction phase of its 100MW Perovo Solar Power Station in Ukraine. This last development stage, completed on December 28, added a further 20MW to capacity, thus making the Perovo Europe's largest PV system.

JA Solar will exclusively furnish Solarhybrid's Allstedt I solar power plant in Halle, Germany, with approximately 19MW of high-efficiency PV modules.

Activ Solar has completed Phase IV of its Perovo Solar Power Station, adding a further 20MW to the system’s size. Perovo’s total capacity now stands at 80MW and with ramping up still ongoing – Activ Solar has yet to reveal the full size of the plant – it looks set to be one of the largest PV projects in Europe.
