Azure Power commissions 100MW solar project in Telangana

Indian developer Azure Power has commissioned a 100MW PV plant in the state of Telangana.

The installation, developed over 202 hectares of land, has been set up under the National Solar Mission Phase II, Batch II, Tranche I. The project was auctioned by Indian utility NTPC and Azure will also supply power to NTPC for the next 25 years at a tariff of INR4.67/kWh (US$0.07).

Inderpreet Wadhwa, founder, chairman and chief executive officer, Azure Power, said: “Telangana’s continued reliance and faith in solar energy has successfully transformed it into one of the largest solar power producing states in the country.

Azure recently won a 200MW solar project at the Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan through an auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Azure will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI at a tariff of INR2.48/kWh (US$0.04).
