LONGi celebrated the launch of its new Hi-Mo X module in Australia this week, clinching the industry’s first Clean Energy Council (CEC) enhanced standards pre-qualification.

LONGi debuted the Hi-Mo X high efficiency mono PERC module at a launch event in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this week, which included a presentation from CEC product specialist Sandy Pulsford on the council’s new enhanced standards.

Those new standards have been designed to highlight modules that meet higher standards, and provide more information to installers intending to install higher quality products.

Critical to the new enhanced listing is backsheet durability, with premature backsheet degradation described by Pulsford as an issue that holds the potential to affect the entire solar supply chain. The Australian market was highlighted as particularly vulnerable to the issue owing to its prevalence of rooftop installations and higher than average temperatures.

The inclusion of DuPont’s Tedlar backsheet in the Hi-Mo X has been critical to LONGi landing the pre-qualification.

The module manufacturer has also signed up BayWa Australia, SolarJuice and SolarGain as official distributors of the product throughout Australia, and the trio will be able to ship the module immediately.

The Hi-Mo X uses breakthrough shingled module technology in order to achieve a front-side module conversion efficiency of 20%, and is available in 72-cell 400W and 60-cell 350W variants.

This week also saw ‘Solar Module Super League’ member LONGi achieve its highest rating to date in Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Solar Module & Inverter Bankability report, toasting a 91% bankable rating.
