TerraForm Power launches offer to acquire Saeta Yields

8 February: TerraForm Power has launched a voluntary tender offer to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of Saeta Yield, S.A., a publicly-listed European owner and operator of wind and solar assets, located primarily in Spain.

“With Brookfield as our sponsor, we believe this transaction demonstrates our ability to originate acquisitions of high-quality assets on a value basis that are highly accretive to our shareholders.”

The tender offer is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.

Schletter provides mounting systems for 35MW solar plant in China

8 February: The Schletter Group has provided mounting systems for a 35MW solar project in China. The Anhui Jin solar farm in Anhui Province produces electricity for nearly 20,000 households.

“We are already in an excellent position in the fast-growing Chinese market,” said Florian Roos, managing director of the Schletter mounting systems manufacturing facility in Shanghai. “This project, which is particularly demanding due to its topography, contributes to further strengthening our reputation as a leader in terms of quality.”

The systems were installed by the contractor Shan YD EPC. Schletter had previously trained Shan's technicians onsite. The Anhui Jin solar farm is to be expanded by a further 15MW in the coming months.

Spanish government identifies projects from 3GW renewables tender

8 February: The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda has identified all the projects that were awarded in the first 3GW renewable auction held in May 2017.

A total of 165 concrete projects have been identified mostly in wind, as well as PV and other technologies (hydraulics, biogas or bioliquids and solar thermoelectric). Solar technology was assigned only 1MW in this auction. 

The 165 identified projects are located in 12 regions: Aragón (80 projects), Galicia (25), Castilla y León (20), Castilla la Mancha (13), Andalucía (9), Navarra (5), Cataluña (5), Murcia (4), Basque Country (1), Extremadura (1), Madrid (1) and Asturias (1).

The Government held a second auction in July last year where another 5GW of renewable energy were awarded.

NSP completes 2MW rooftop system in Taiwan with bifacial modules

8 February: Vertically integrated Taiwanese solar firm Neo Solar Power Corporation has launched a 2MW rooftop solar installation using bifacial modules on the rooftop of the Training and Employment Center of Tainan Government.

This is the first rooftop system using NSP's P-type double glass and double side generation modules (Glory BiFi Modules) in Taiwan. This system uses 6,500 modules.
