CIS thin-film manufacturer Solar Frontier has won a contract to supply 92,000 modules to Mitsui & Co, continuing its success in securing supply deals for utility-scale PV projects in Japan.
Mitsui has already announced major PV project plans in Japan, which already include four projects that will use Solar Frontier’s modules. The company said discussions continued on further projects not yet announced with Mitsui.

The CIS modules will be used on a number of projects, totalling 14.1MW across Japan. Four projects were noted, which included Yamanashi Mega-Solar (provisional name) in Kai City and Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, which will have a total capacity of 10.3MW.
The company said that delivery for one of the projects began in early November, 2012, while delivery of further modules for two other projects in Yamanashi Prefecture, were scheduled to start shipping soon.
