French renewables company Voltalia has started delivering electricity to the Uzbek grid at its 126MW solar PV plant.

JA Solar has signed a module supply agreement with EPC contractor Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for two utility-scale projects in Uzbekistan. 

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided US$142 million in financing for the construction of a 1GW solar and 1.3GWh BESS portfolio in Uzbekistan.

Construction is slated to begin in Q1 2026 for the solar and energy storage portions and Q3 2026 for the wind assets, Voltalia said.

Uzbekistan will be the first country to benefit from the credit facility with the construction of a solar-plus-storage project in Bukhara.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide up to US$229.4 million to ACWA Power to develop a 200MW/500MWh solar-plus-storage project in Uzbekistan.

The World Bank and Masdar have announced a US$159 million financing package to support a 250MW solar-plus-storage project in Uzbekistan.
