ASYS offers solar-cell metallization line upgrade kits, claims capacity increases up to 22%

ASYS is offering metallization line upgrades to its customers, improvements that the tool and automation supplier says will increase the capacity by as much as 22%. The upgrade kit consists of hardware and software changes and can be installed in three days.

The company says that single-lane tool users will see capacities increase from approximately 1200 cells per hr to 1440 cells per hr, while dual-lane system users should see throughputs rise from about 2200 cells per hr to 2700 cells per hr.

ASYS believes that the kits provide a critical advantage for those customers operating multiple metallization lines, since upgrading several lines might allow them to postpone or cancel the investment for a new high-speed line, resulting in cost savings in areas such as operator count, capital expenditures, floorspace, and utilities.

The upgrade kits are available immediately for most existing ASYS lines.
