    Gehrlicher Solar has announced the construction of a 250MW, ground-mounted solar power plant in the Extremadura region in Spain.
    Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and the completion date is 2015.
    The local Spanish goevernment and the prime minister of the Extremadura region signed the agreement for the construction.

    Canadian Solar and the Ningxia Electric Power Group have finished work on a 10MW ground-mounted PV system in northwest China. The joint development is part of a larger 50MW plant in the Hongsibao district of Ningxia and will generate around 13.5 million kWh of electricity a year.

    SAG Solarstrom has sold its 48MW Serenissima PV plant in Northern Italy to an unnamed institutional investor. The purchase contract, valued “in line with the market rate in the triple-digit million-euro range”, was signed on December 31, 2011 and is subject to the usual conditions precedent.

    Activ Solar has finished the fifth and final construction phase of its 100MW Perovo Solar Power Station in Ukraine. This last development stage, completed on December 28, added a further 20MW to capacity, making Perovo Europe’s largest PV system.
