DGAD had already had to extend its original deadline for filing responses for its anti-dumping investigation earlier this month.

India’s Directorate General of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has published a letter revealing which Chinese, Taiwanese and Malaysian solar cell producers and exporters will be sampled in its ongoing anti-dumping investigation.

DGAD noted that it had received a large number of responses from companies based in China and Taiwan and would proceed with sampling by taking the largest percentage of the volume of the exports by the responding parties.

However, having received just five responses from Malaysian firms, DGAD said it had decided to drop the sampling method and opt for examining all five of the respondents.

Producers and exporters related to the following companies are being sampled:

From China:

  • Trina Solar
  • Canadian Solar
  • JA Solar
  • Risen
  • Hanwha Q CELLS
  • Tongwei Solar
  • BYD
  • Suntech
  • Hengdian
  • Shunfeng

From Taiwan:

  • Solartech
  • Motech

From Malaysia:

  • First Solar Malaysia
  • JinkoSolar
  • TS Solar Tech
  • Panasonic Energy Malaysia
  • JA Solar Malaysia

Earlier this month, DGAD had already had to extend its original deadline for filing responses for its anti-dumping investigation into imports of solar cells and modules from China, Taiwan and Malaysia, to 12 September. Meanwhile, the original date for a DGAD decision on anti-dumping, 22 September, has already passed with no recommendation made.

Last week, MNRE secretary Anand Kumar expressed strong support for India's own manufacturing industry.
