The pipeline consists of ready to build and partially developed sites throughout Mexico and Central and South America, while the new staffers will work across Solarcentury’s teams in Panama, Mexico and Chile.

ECOSolar general manager Enrique de Ramon is to take the reins of Solarcentury’s LatAm business.

The firm intends to become one of Latin America’s leading developers and de Ramon said its global development expertise will help it achieve that aim.

“The project pipeline for the whole of Solarcentury’s LatAm business is now over 1GW; the team and I look forward to growing this further. The significant strength of Solarcentury’s LatAm team means the company is exceptionally well placed to become a market leader in the region,” he said.

Solarcentury chief exec Frans van den Heuvel said ECOSolar was a “positive cultural fit” for his company.

“The new starters in the LatAm business, together with the many talented Solarcentury people already working across our LatAm offices, will build on the multi-megawatt projects we’ve already delivered in the region,” he added.
