Dutch renewable energy developer GroenLeven is set to develop the largest floating PV project in Europe, a 48MW installation that will be installed at an area in the Netherlands owned by Kremer Zand and Grind that is used as a sand extraction site.
New Southern Energy has completed the first floating PV project located in South Africa, with the installation operating at a dam next to a fruit farm just outside of Franschhoek in the country’s Western Cape province.
The US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has evaluated the potential for floating solar (FPV) across the US in a new study, notably highlighting its benefits on water reservoirs in arid regions as well as alongside hydroelectric facilities.
