Google has finalised its acquisition of US renewable energy developer Intersect Power, a part of its plan to power its data centre expansions in the US.
Amazon, Google, OpenAI and other tech firms have signed the 'ratepayer protection pledge' to build, bring or buy the energy required to build and operate data centres.
Alphabet has announced a definitive agreement to acquire data centre and energy infrastructure solutions provider Intersect for US$4.75 billion in cash.
The agreement will support the construction of six PV plants, with a combined capacity of 724MW, which will be sited to support Google’s data centre operations.
