Japanese cell and module manufacturer Toyo Solar has begun production at its solar cell processing plant in Ethiopia.

Toyo Solar plans to double its annual solar PV cell production capacity in Ethiopia, East Africa.

Chinese solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar has filed a patent infringement action in the US District Court for the Northern District of California (San Francisco) against VSUN Solar USA, Toyo and its affiliates in the US and abroad.

Through its subsidiary, Toyo Solar, the company acquired 100% of membership interests in Houston-based Solar Plus Technology Texas.

Construction of the cell plant in Ethiopia is expected to start in November 2024, with the start of production aimed at the end of the first quarter of 2025.

Toyo Solar has announced plans to build a 2GW module manufacturing plant in the US, which it plans to commission next year.
