Chinese solar manufacturer Hareon Solar has approved a joint venture that could see it working upstream and downstream in Morocco.

In a statement to the Shanghai stock exchange the company said it would work with the state run investment agency Societe d'Investissement Energetique and solar EPC and general contracting firm Jet Contracting. The deal includes solar power production and the production and sale of modules.

An MoU signed in 2016 included a 160MW cell and module plant. No further details on the approved plans were available at the time of press.

The new entity will be called Hareon Jet Solar SA.

Morocco has a series of concentrated PV and regular PV projects in the pipeline with the African Development Bank investing US$265 million in 800MW of solar power projects.
